FAQs
What is expected of team members?
Commitment to consistently attend training. How you behave reflects on the team, all its members and our sponsors. So both in training and outside training we do our best to stay positive. Stay respectful. Trust the process. Practice a high level of communication with team mates and coaches. Practice good trail etiquette. When you mess up, own it, apologize and clean up your mess. Keep bikes clean and tuned up. Keep things fun. All athletes wear team kits to training and races outside NICA races. Support our sponsors via social media tags and mentions as well as prioritizing them when you purchase gear.
Do I have to be at all practices to be on the team?
No. We understand some athletes have jobs, big tests, youth group etc. We would expect athletes to be at 50%+ of training days and to note their availability on team snap app. If you expect to be available less than 50% of the time you may still apply but will require a conversation w head coach to make sure your goals reflect your availability to train.
How will you keep the athletes safe?
Athletes are required to always have a helmet on if their leg is over a bike. We do a quick bike check before each practice. A. B. C. D. E. Air. Brakes. Chain. Deraileur. Everything else. Our coaches are all background checked and SafeSport (child abuse) trained or the NICA equivalent. Coaches will ride with a basic first aid kit to tend any crashes. We are concussion trained and will follow guidelines before allowing athletes back to practice if indeed there is a concussion. TRIBE LLC has liability insurance in tact. Accidents do happen and cycling is an inherently dangerous sport but we will always remind athletes to ride within their own limits.
Will TRIBE provide rides to races/events?
Athletes will only be transported from event fhousing to venue as part of our housing/food event service of $100/day..
How does race housing/food work?
National athletes may sign up for housing/food support at $100/day. An airbnb will be rented near race course and food will be provided to allow athletes to travel without their parents. Space will be limited and couches will be slept on. National Elite athletes get first dibs.
Do athletes pay for their races?
Athletes cover their own race entry fees, travel, food and lodging, unless utilizing the National team Housing/food support @$100/day.
How do we deal with monthly payments?
Athletes must stay up to date on dues. The fees are due the first of each month and can be paid via check or Venmo @TRIBE-Boise. Event Support Fees are due Nov 1/April 1splitting the fee into two equal payments.
Is there any multi athlete discount?
Yes! There is a 25% discount on the athlete’s event fees.
How do we deal with Kit/Event Fee payments?
Kit and event fees being a larger chunk may be paid all up front or broken into 2 payments on November 1 and April 1st and can be paid via check to '“TRIBE CYCLING LLC” or Venmo @TRIBE-Boise.
What kind of commitment is required?
A 12 month commitment is required. November to November. It takes an entire year to work through our plan to get you the maximum results. We take injuries into consideration as a reason to pause payments. If an injury takes an athlete off the bike for more than 1 month we will shift their monthly fee down to $150 until they are back on the bike.
Are we going to ride any roads?
Yes. Road riding is great for getting faster. In most cases we will ride roads on the way to gravel. In other cases we will ride up bogus basin road, Hill road, Dump Loop and Willow Creek/Pearl. But our primary surface will be dirt from Camel’s Back Park.
What do my monthly dues get me again?
There are monthly coaching/team training fees ($150-$250) and an annual event support fee ($1500-$2500 which can be paid all up front or divided into two payments Nov 1/April 1). In addition, event housing/food can be provided for National athletes not traveling with parents for $100/day. Regional athletes may race at National calendar races and receive full support for an additional $100 per event.

What if I have my own coach as a National athlete?
No problem. You will just pay the adjusted kit and event fee of $3500. This will include race support, housing option, invite to team camp, discounts, etc. Boise athletes must use TRIBE coaching to keep training rides consistent. Out of state athletes with private coaches is completely acceptable.
Which TRIBE team is best for me?
Local Team is for those who only have a year or two of race experience, are 6-8th graders and perhaps play multiple sports but want to stay in cycling shape throughout the year and train with a team. This team will put in 6-8 hrs of training per week focussing on increasing their volume and has the main objective of being competitive during the NICA season.
Regional Team is for those who want to test themselves against the best in the Region and are willing and able to invest 10-12/wk to be competitive at that level. This squad may not want to travel as much or may still be racing at the Cat 2/3 level.
National Team is for those who want to test themselves against the best in the Nation and are willing and able to invest what it takes to be competitive at that level. Goal of competing in U.S. Nationals. Able to invest 12-17 hrs per week training. This team races in Cat 1 13/14 & 15/16 or UCI 17/18 U23.
I live out of state. How does the National Team work?
You will have the opportunity to connect with the other National athletes at team camp Presidents Day weekend in Feb, the USAC races we will be supporting and Fall camp in Idaho. We will utilize zoom for team education and get coaching through training peaks. You’ll be assigned a TRIBE coach you may contact whenever you have a question or adjustment that needs to be made to your training. We meet up at USAC races for pre-ride the day before the event then you are taken care of on race day with a tent, trainer, mechanical and feed/tech zone assistance.
Kits will be mailed to you or brought to team camp along with bottles, T-shirt, hat etc. Bike and part orders can be done online through our sponsor George’s Cycles at 20% off and other sponsor orders may be direct and be delivered to your home.
Ideally we would be able to accept 2 or more athletes of similar ability from the same area to facilitate community and have a training partner to work with.

What are the kits like?
Kits are rad. See our instagram. Produced by Pedal Mafia. You’ll want to wear them to school they’re so cool. Included in your entry fee membership will be two bibs and two jerseys. We will also have accessories you may want to purchase like a vest, jacket etc. Your parents can even buy a jersey of their own … because you know they’ll be jealous. .
February Camp costs?
We do our best to keep costs down by grocery shopping and keeping the biking and the house amenities the main entertainment. Traditionally Team camp is around $1000/athlete plus travel. This covers housing, food & transportation from house to trailheads. Transportation from airport to team housing may be extra depending on location. There will also be a free all team camp in the Fall in Idaho if National athletes can’t swing the Feb camp.
